FOREWORD
This is the story of an organization which for sixty-five years was too busy serving students to take time to tell its story. It is, however, a story that needs to be told.
The Committee on Friendly Ralations Among Foreign Students (CFR) grew out of the vision of Dr. John R. Mott, leader in the international work of the YMCA, leader in the founding of the World Council of Churches, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, and a world citizen. Mott's dream was to serve a unique group of young people who had received scant attention up to that point, the foreign students in the United States. He was among the first to recognize the importance of this group and their potential for national and international leadership.
