André Tardieu (1876-1945), French politician and journalist. A member of the Chambre des députés (legislative) from 1914-1936  He served as High Commissioner for Franco-American affairs and was Clemenceau's confident during the Paris Peace Conference. He held several ministerial positions in the inter-war years. In 1929 he succeeded Poincaré and headed three short-lived governments until 1932.
