Clayton Curtis Grandy was born June 24, 1890 to Bertha May Flora and Millard Curtis Grandy at Clyde, Ohio. He attended Cornell University.

In July 1917 Grandy entered the American Field Service and served as camion driver with TMU 397 (Réserve Mallet). Enlisted in U.S. Army in November 1917 and served in the U.S. Motor Transport Company 369 until May 1919.

1923 Clayton Grandy married Jessica Eleanor Stratton (1902-1995). He pursued a career in advertising and publishing in Cleveland , Ohio. In 1936 the family moved to Fairview Park.

Clayton Grandy passed away on February 3, 1974 at Cleveland, OH.
