Born in Philadelphia on March 27, 1922, Hugh S. Lamberton was the son of the late Philadelphia Mayor Robert E. Lamberton and Helen (Henderson) Lamberton. He was a resident of Monroe County for 40 years, prior to moving to Dallas in 2009.
In 1942, he enlisted in the American Field Service, where he drove an ambulance during World War II in the Western Desert during the African Campaign and later in Italy. He volunteered until 1945. After the war, he attended Drexel University, where he received his degree in civil engineering.

Hugh Stirling Lamberton passed away on August 21, 2014 in Dallas. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, two daughters and two sons, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
