Louis DuBois Le Fevre was born in Forest Glen, NY on January 14, 1894. He was the son of Solomon Le Fevre (1861-1945) and Jane "Jennie" R. Flagler Le Fevre (1859-1919), he had one brother, Philip Flagler Le Fevre (1895-1965).

After graduating magna cum laude from Harvard in 1917, he volunteered for the American Field Service and from May to November 1917 served in the Motor Transport Unit 133 - the Réserve Mallet - with the French Army on the Chemin des Dames front.

Louis D. Le Fevre worked for several years as a social worker with the Ulster County Welfare Department. Author of Liberty and Restraint, a book published in 1931, he also was a contributor to various magazines including the Yale Review and the American Mercury.

Married to Margareth E. LeFevre Le Fevre (1895-1972), they had one daughter, Anne Anna LeFevre (1928-2001). They lived in New Paltz, Ulster, NY and were members of the Reformed Church of New Paltz.
Louis D. Le Fevre was a trustee of the Huguenot Historical Society.

He passed away on March 15, 1965 at age 71.
