Journalist. Born in Evanston, IL; son of Rev. Oscar Michael Adam and Cecile Belle McCrosky.
He was on the MS Agra on the way to Egypt, one of seven American Field Service volunteers, when it was torpedoed on April 20, 1942 off Bermuda. In June he departed again and reached Suez and Alexandria and ultimately Cairo in September. In October he was at the battle of El Alamein and in November back in Cairo where he was in charge of the Bulletin and of public relations.. He spent three years in the Middle East, North Africa and Italy and with the French Army in France and Germany. He sailed back to New York from Antwerp in June 1945.
